What a good weekend!

I had a fabulous weekend for four reasons. In no particular order:

1) No Halo! Doug's primary Halo buddies (my brother in law and their mutual friend) were both otherwise occupied this weekend and I have not seen a single bubble shield, battle rifle, or energy sword since Thursday! More Doug and Jamie time and no Halo makes me a happy girl.

2) Dinner and a movie with my best friend Alyssa! I didn't think I was going to get to see her so soon after she moved, but she came back to take care of a few errands and Doug and I enjoyed a fab evening with her and her boyfriend Jeff. (Sidenote: Night at the Museum 2 is pretty cute, but I think I was more excited about the Harry Potter trailer that came before the movie. Half Blood Prince opens in 46 days in case you were wondering.)

3) Bonding time with mom! My dad had to go to my high school's graduation and mom came down and went shopping with me. I love anytime spent with her because she is an awesome mom and a great friend.

4) For the last few weeks, my friend Jessica and I have been doing what we call "imaginary shopping." We have repeatedly filled countless imaginary online shopping bags with clothes that we wanted but had no money to buy. Today, mom and I went shopping and while I didn't buy everything on my virtual list, let's just say I might have enough new stuff to last me the whole week! (Sidenote: Thank you AE for bringing back your Artist jeans!)

Hope everyone else enjoyed their weekend!

I officially have one whole giant box of assorted wedding things. As shown here with our cat Ace.and

As of last Friday, we are officially under the one year mark! Hoping Stephanie gets a call back from the chaplain confirming our reservation this week!

I guess now that we have the box of stuff and the chapel, we are really going to do this thing, huh? This is, of course, if the several thousand in deposits we had down before this wasn't enough to convince us. Or that whole love thing, you know. :)

Holy wedding puppy love, Batman!

While I'm not sure yet how I am going to get my childhood dog into my wedding pictures, I know it will happen somehow. Maybe my bridal pics or maybe getting ready at my parents house. While I think about that, we can both enjoy this major wedding puppy love courtesy of Anna Kuperberg.

What I has planned on walking to

Confession time. I cannot get through the movie Forrest Gump without crying. At least once. Probably more than one if we are being honest.

I had been planning on us walking to the main theme from Forrest Gump. If you can't remember what this is, click here. If you haven't seen it, stop reading and do so now. I will lend you my copy if necessary. There is even a little change about two minutes in that would work for alerting guests that the bridesmaids are done and my dad and I are coming. I think that the 3ish minute song should work well for getting the four of us down the fairly short aisle in the chapel (which can officially be reserved on Friday, btw!)

So, what do we think of this one? This question goes especially to those half dozen of you that I have spoken to in real life about my last post but who for some reason won't comment! :)

Halo is still not out of the question, recessional song anyone?

Halo 3 Processional?

For those of you who know Doug and I in real life, this post's title was probably not surprising to you.

For those of you who don't, I imagine you will need a bit of an explanation. Since 4th of July weekend last year, Doug and I have had an almost every night routine. From about 8:30-9 pm on, I study whatever the subject of the day is (this summer will be CPA exam material) and Doug plays Halo 3 on Xbox Live with my brother in law and another friend of theirs. Every so often my sister (who is also studying while her husband plays Halo with Doug) and I also exchange a series of texts commiserating about how we are Halo 3 widows.

Today I was sent the link to the video of a couple who met playing Halo 2 and had a Halo wedding, complete with an officiant dressed in Master Chief armor. (Doug tells me Master Chief is like the head guy in the game or something.) Apparently they were even featured on MTV. Check out the video here.

Now, obviously I think this type of wedding is only appropriate for a couple who met on Halo and never would I consider a Halo wedding. However, as I was sitting here watching the video of their wedding, I began to think, "Hey, I can understand why they would choose this as a processional because it is really pretty." Clearly my mind has just been warped by thousands of hours of hearing this theme while Doug was between games, right? Is it crazy to actually consider this? Check out the whole song here, although I would suggest skipping to around 0:59 to get to the heart of the song.

I'm fairly confident that this would just be an inside joke for those of us in the bridal party who are involved in this nightly ritual and everyone else wouldn't think much of it, but it's still kind of crazy, right?

Paging Tolleson, Arizona

Google analytics says that I have had 22 visits from someone in Tolleson, Arizona. Out of curiosity, I would love to know who you are!

I have had visitors from almost half of the states and several countries, but nowhere near 22 from any states other than Illinois and Missouri. Please tell me who you are, I'm so curious!

BR plea

My dearest Banana Republic,

I so desperately want to give you my money, but you are making it so hard. Why, oh why, would you only have the jacket I want in a 16 and the skirt I want in a 2? I in no way could fit properly into either of these sizes.

Please work on this, like now.

Love, Jamie

Happy 23rd birthday to my wonderful fiance! (To my knowledge, he doesn't read this blog, but maybe I will send him the link.) I couldn't ask for a better friend, protector, supporter, and debate partner and I am so excited to add husband to that list in only a few days more than a year. Doug, I love you!I have been working on a post about our engagement story, but have not yet perfected it. I promise to have it posted in the next week. :)

Happy graduation to me

After almost a month of debating whether I should replace my laptop, tonight I ordered a new one. This shiny new toy from Toshiba should be on its way to me tomorrow. Over the course of the last month, I must have talked myself into and out of this purchase a hundred times. While it is true that Abe, the laptop that got me through college, still works, he has begun to show his age over the last year. First it was a broken power cord, which I replaced (for $100!) Then, the spring that holds the screen up broke and Doug had to fashion a custom bracket to hold it in place (it's pretty sweet, you should see it). Now, Abe no longer will function without being plugged in, and while I have been told replacing the battery will fix that, I have decided it is time to move on.

Finally today I forced myself to get over the sentimentality I have for Abe as well as the parting with of almost $900 and ordered a replacement. Of course, Abe will still be a part of the family, as I will occasionally need to use a program only he has and Doug will most likely still use him most days. Hopefully, he will enjoy a peaceful semi-retirement.

Jamaica Me Crazy

This picture was taken this afternoon at the wedding of a good friend. Sported by an uncle of the groom, this interesting fashion choice was one of many that left us with puzzled looks on our faces and feeling extremely overdressed.

We did it!

Bridesmaid Alyssa and I at graduation tonight. She is moving to Michigan for her new job, and wow, how much I am going to miss her! Definitely going to have to figure out how to get to Michigan and for the sake of my sanity, I imagine I will be spending a bit of quality time on whatever road is between here and there.

Love you Lys!

Packing Insanity

After getting yet another job rejection letter today, I opened up a package to find this.Yep that is a tiny approx. 3"X4" inch stamp pad packed in a box one million times its size.

Boo on the company who sent me this for hating the environment.

Yay for having the last item needed for invitation practice to commence!

Cherry Pink and Grey

"Charcoal is the new brown! Pairing slate gray with any upbeat shade (think kiwi green or raspberry) is a beautiful new trend inspiring brides this spring." -Straight from InStyle Weddings

Who knew I (and our wedding colors) was so trendy?

On Wednesday I had an interview for a job that I would really like (and since Doug was laid off, we really need). I think it went well and am hoping for a call about a second interview this week. Any prayers and good thoughts sent my way would be greatly appreciated.

Three final exams and a presentation currently separate me from graduation on Friday. After which, you can look for wedding discussion to resume. In the lineup will be invitations (as the last item I need for a mockup is currently on its way to me) and flowers.
